    History

Cossack and Dragoon rifles, cavalry choke

The reign of Emperor Nicholas I was a time of improving the army’s weapons and the modernization of infantry guns was carried out many times despite the difficult economic situation of the empire . Modernization of weapons was carried out in 1826, 1828, 1839, 1844, 1845, 1852, 1854. In 1844, the emperor issued an order to remake all flint-shotgun rifles into French-style drums. Since it turned out that the army guns in circulation were shot to varying degrees, they were drilled down to a standard barrel diameter of 18.03 mm. In 1845, the production of flint-shotguns at the factories ceased, and production of capsule guns of seven structurally similar samples began: infantry gun (1845), Cossack gun (1846), dragoon gun (1847), soldier's gun (1848), carbine (1849) , fitting (1849) and officer's gun (1849).
