Biography

Born in 1892 in Simferopol , there he worked as a proofreader . At the end of 1917, he was elected secretary of the Simferopol City Union of Printers and a member of the Presidium of the Crimean Council of Trade Unions. In 1919, after the capture of Crimea by the White Guards, Avdeev, together with other comrades, moved to Sevastopol and actively engaged in an underground struggle against the forces of counter-revolution .

After the defeat and death in January 1920 of the Sevastopol underground committee of the Bolsheviks, led by V.V. Makarov, a new Bolshevik committee was created in the city. The committee circulated and distributed propaganda literature: proclamations , leaflets - continued to prepare for an armed uprising. Nikolai Avdeev worked in the military section of the committee.

At the beginning of March 1920, a meeting of the leaders of the uprising was held in the apartment of the port worker Klepin on the Ship Side ( Nikolaevskaya Street, 86 K. Libknecht Street ), which was being prepared with the participation of representatives of military units. But the assembly was reported, and it was thwarted by the White Guard counterintelligence. Underground workers tried to escape, a shootout began. Five of them were detained.

Over the next few days, counterintelligence arrested another 28 people, among them was Avdeev. During the investigation, the arrested were divided into two parts. On March 9-10, the first group of 10 people (including Avdeev) appeared before a military court, which sentenced three people to death, two to 10 years of hard labor , and five, due to the lack of any evidence of guilt, received a acquittal. Dissatisfied with the leniency of the sentence, the White Guard General Slashchev ordered the arrestees to be immediately brought to his headquarters, at Dzhankoy station. On March 12, all the underground members were shot by order of Slashchev.

After the Civil War, the remains of Nikolai Avdeev were reburied near the southern gate at the Kommunarov cemetery in Sevastopol to a mass grave. In 1937, a monument was erected on it according to the project of the architect M. A. Sadovsky.

In January 1935, the street (formerly Bazarnaya) was named after Nikolai Avdeev in Sevastopol.
