The administrative center is the city of Kolchugino .

Geography

Area - 1,170 km² (13th place in the region). The district is divided into two parts by the small river Peksha (lion. Tributary of the Klyazma ). There are no large natural lakes, but Peksha has a large Kolchuginsky reservoir .

Kolchuginsky district is located at the northeastern end of the Smolensk-Moscow Upland in the vicinity of the Klinsko-Dmitrov Ridge with a typical subtaiga landscape. The highest point in the region is 236 meters above sea level. In elevated places, the moraine relief of the last glaciation (10–15 thousand years ago) was preserved here. The moraines of the Kolchuginsky district consist of loam and clay with a significant amount of crushed stone, boulders and sand, often overlain by carbon-free covering loam. Spruce-small-leaved forests prevail in the region [3] .

Natural resources

The flora of the region has 594 species of vascular plants [4] . This is the floristically poorest municipal region of the Vladimir region, since it lies completely within the same natural region (the eastern smoothed outskirts of the Klinsko-Dmitrov Ridge, as well as a small fragment of Opole).
