Kuzgun Adjar (full name Abdyulakhet Kuzgun Cetin Adjar , February 28, 1928 - February 4, 1976) is a Turkish sculptor , known for his metal work.

Biography
Born in Istanbul in the family of Nazmi Adjar and his wife Aisha Zehra. He lived in poverty. In 1953 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (currently the University of Fine Arts named after Mimar Sinan ). Studied with Rudolf Belling . A significant part of the works of Ajar, who was influenced by Hadi Bara, are abstract figures. In 1955, Adjar married Munir Abdusef. In 1965, he married a second time, his chosen one was Bilge Berker, who in 1966 gave birth to son Yunus from Adjar. For the third time, Adjar married Ferce Pulkhan in 1971 [1] .
Died February 4, 1976 from intracerebral hemorrhage after falling from a stepladder. He was buried in the Zincirlikuyu cemetery [1] .
Professional Activities
He created sculptures using reinforcing mesh. He studied painting at Istanbul Ataturk Lyceum. In 1957 he presented his work at the American News Center. In 1958-59 he experimented, creating forms using reinforcing mesh, nails, metal parts and connecting them by gas welding . In 1961, Adjar received the prize of the Paris Biennale for his work from nails. He also received one of two scholarships for young artists. After this, Adjar worked in Paris for a year. In 1962, his works were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art . After returning to Turkey for his work in iron, Adjar received the main prize at the 23rd state exhibition of painting and sculpture. In 1966 he created his most famous sculpture “Birds” ( tour. Kuşlar ) [1] [2] .
Political Activities
He kept to the left. After Adjar joined the Workers' Party in the 1960s, demand for his work fell, he had to work as a fisherman and bartender. He joined the street theater "Movement for Revolution" ( tour. Devrim İçin Hareket ), performing in squares, strikes and protests in 1968. Adjar also participated in the filming of the documentary film “The Bridge to the Big Zab , not the Bosphorus ” organized by the Milliyet newspaper ( tour Boğaz'a Değil Zap Suyu'na Köprü ). After the coup of 1971 he was arrested.
