Hugo Zapalovich ( Polish. Hugo Zapałowicz , 1852 - 1917 ) - Polish military lawyer and botanist , author of several works on the flora of Galicia.

Biography
Born in Ljubljana on November 15, 1852 . He studied at the Faculty of Law of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, graduated from it in 1875, in 1880 received a doctorate in law, served in the army of Austria-Hungary. Soon he became interested in the study of botany, in 1880-1881 he studied botany at the University of Vienna, in his spare time he studied the flora of the Alps.
In 1888-1890 he traveled around the world, compiled a geological map of Patagonia. In 1899 he published a description of his journey.
In 1894 he was elected a member of the Academy of Knowledge .
In 1914, during the Przemysl siege, H. Zapalovich was captured by Russian troops and exiled to Kazalinsk , then to Perovsk (modern Kyzylorda ), where he died on November 20, 1917 .
