Biography
Born on June 30 ( July 12 ), 1900 in the village of Burtsevo, Rzhevsky district, Tver province . He studied at the First Leningrad Medical Institute , graduated in 1926.
In 1934 he received a Ph.D. in biological sciences without defending a dissertation.
In 1952 he defended his thesis of Doctor of Biological Sciences.
In 1958, V.I. Kudryavtsev was awarded the title of professor.
Since 1975, he headed the Laboratory of Yeast Systematics, Institute of Microbiology, USSR Academy of Sciences .
Creator of the only Russian-language determinant of yeast (1954). He studied the patterns of the spread of yeast in nature, the types of yeast used in winemaking. The author of the theory of speciation in yeast, its connection with the practical activities of man.
He died on May 16, 1999 .
