Biography
N.R. Kochetov was born in Oranienbaum, St. Petersburg province . From 1875 to 1883 he studied at the Craiman Grammar School in Moscow. In 1889 he graduated from the Law Faculty of Moscow University . For some time he served in the judicial department. However, he devoted his subsequent life to music. In 1886, he began writing critical articles about music. He studied under the musician and critic German Augustovich Larosh , pianist and composer Max Erdmansdorfer .
Already in 1895, Nicholas acted as a conductor. In 1902 he moved to Moscow, lived in Khlebny Lane . In 1903-1905 he worked as a conductor in the Solodovnikov Theater . Since 1906 he taught music at the Synodal School, in 1918-1920. - in the People’s Choir Academy created on its basis. In 1921 he participated in the creation of the Institute of Musical Science (HYMN) [2] .
He died on January 3, 1925 in Moscow.
Creativity
In 1884 he wrote the 1st symphony and music for the tragedy “Polotsk ruin” by A. V. Amfiteatrov , in 1888 - “The Arab Suite” for the symphony orchestra, in 1911 - the 2nd symphony. in 1922 - a concert for piano and symphony orchestra. He also wrote Oriental Sketches, romances, serenades, choirs, marches, etc.
In 1903, Kochetov wrote the opera “Terrible Revenge” (on the plot of the story by N. V. Gogol ).
