Kinetic art , Kinetism ( Greek. Kinetikos - movement that sets in motion ) - a direction in modern art, outplaying the effects of real movement of the entire work or its individual components.
Kinetism is based on the notion that with the help of light and movement you can create a work of art. Objects are moving installations that produce interesting combinations of light and shadow when moving, sometimes sounding. These carefully designed devices made of metal, glass or other materials, combined with flashing light devices, are called "mobiles" .

History
Since ancient times, elements of kinetism have existed in the form of various tricks that revived sculptures , in applied arts, and theatrical scenography.
Kinetic art originated in the 20-30s. XX century., Its representatives wanted to overcome the traditional static sculpture, fit it into the environment. The experiences of creating dynamic plastics are found in futurism , dadaism , the Bauhaus and Russian constructivism . The course finally took shape in the 60s. in the work of the French artist Nicolas Schaeffer ( “Forms and Colors” , 1961), Argentinean Julio Le Park . One of the first ideas of kinetic art was applied by Naum Gabo in The Standing Wave (1920), linking kinetic art with constructivism.
The simplest mobiles are the work of Alexander Calder . In more complex ones, not only air movement is used, but also an electric motor is used, as, for example, in the designs of Brian Winter from painted cards reflected in a concave mirror. Julio Le Park created the effect of flickering light with the help of moving squares of non-ferrous metal, hanging on nylon threads. Swiss sculptor Jean Tengley created "self-destructive machines": "Radiosculpture with a pen" (1962) and "Drawing machines . "
In Russia, the ideas of kinetic art are primarily associated with the name of V. Tatlin , who created the model of the monument to the tower of the III International (1919-1920).
The techniques of kinetic art are widely used in the organization of various exhibitions, shows, in the design of parks and squares.
