Works

The main historical work of Adam Murimut was originally called “Continuation of the Chronicles” ( Latin Continuatio Chronicarum ), because in the Exeter Chronicles he studied, the narrative brought up to 1302 years, and in the Chronicles of Westminster - to 1305.

Often performing royal missions, Murimut did not have enough time for historical studies, so the initial version of his chronicle, begun around 1325 , completed around 1337, and covering the events of 1303-1337, is rather brief. The reports on the events of the middle of the reign of Edward II , when Mourmouth was in Avignon, are especially concise in him.

From 1341 to 1347, Murimut was actively reworking his essay with at least four editions [3] , using the documents of the royal office available to him. An important addition to the latter are the personal memories of the author, who actively participated in many political and church affairs of that time [4] .

In the final version, the chronicle of Adam Murimuth, dubbed “The History of Our Time” ( lat. Historia sui temporis ), was brought to 1347 and includes, in particular, a description of the events of the beginning of the Hundred Years War , as well as the relations of the royal court and the Church of England with the papal curia.

“The Story of Our Time” by Murimut was published in 1889 in the 93rd volume of the Rolls Series , together with the chronicle of Robert of Ayvesbury , edited by [5] .
