“A wonderful family life” ( Japanese я が 家 は 楽 し , Vaga I va thanosi ; other Russian names are “Sweet Home” , “Home, Sweet Home” , “Our Happy Home” [com. 1] ; Eng. Home Sweet Home / Our House Is Happy ) is a Japanese black and white drama film with comedy elements, directed by Noboru Nakamura in 1951 . This refreshingly moving example of a 1950s family film continues the tradition of films about the life of “little people” in the style of the Shёtiku film company, and Nakamura’s workmanship is complemented by the excellent work of his film crew and star cast.

The family is overwhelmed with joy when a father is awarded a cash prize for his loyalty to the company (25 years of continuous service). However, soon the family has to find out that there is a fine line between happiness and unhappiness. Father’s cash prize was stolen during his return from the award ceremony.
