Sergey Anatolyevich Ponomarev (born January 11, 1972 , Sochi ) is a Soviet and Russian tennis player , tennis coach.

Biography
Born in 1972 in Sochi . He began to play tennis at the age of six. His first coach was VV Shishkin [1] [2] . In 1981-1990 was a member of the junior team of the USSR under the leadership of Anatoly Lepeshin . Six-time champion of the USSR in singles, eight-time - in doubles. European Champion in doubles under 12 years old (1984). Bronze medalist of the European Championship in singles until the age of 14 years (1986). Winner in the Team World Championship U16 (1987) [1] .
In 1997 he graduated from the Krasnodar Institute of Physical Culture and Sports . After that I switched to coaching. Among the most famous wards of Sergei Anatolyevich are Denis Golovanov (150th in the ATP rating) and Elena Vesnina (70th in the WTA single ranking and 93th in the doubles). He was also the personal trainer of the most titled tennis player in the history of Russia, Evgeny Kafelnikov (in 2000-2002) [1] [3] .
Family
Married, has two children: daughter Polina and son Nikita, who also plays tennis [1] .
