Cheboksarov, Mikhail Nikolaevich

Mikhail Nikolaevich Cheboksarov ( 1878–1932 ) - Soviet Russian therapist , doctor of medicine (1910), professor (1917), rector of Kazan University (1922–1923) [1] .

Biography

Born on May 27, 1878 in Simbirsk [2] . In 1903 he graduated with honors from the medical faculty of Kazan University . Went through the internship in clinics in Germany [3] . In 1906 he was elected as supernumerary ordinator of the department of faculty therapy led by A.N. Kazem-Bek . After completing the residency was left at the department. In 1910 he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic “On the secretory nerves of the adrenal glands” (scientific adviser N. A. Mislavsky ). From 1911 he worked as an assistant, then as a private assistant professor at the department of medical diagnostics with a propaedeutic clinic of the medical faculty of Kazan University. In 1917 he became the head of this department. From 1920 to the end of his life he headed the department of faculty therapy [4] . From August 1922 to November 1923 he was rector of Kazan University [3] . He was repeatedly elected dean of the medical faculty [4] .

Published over 50 scientific papers, most of which are devoted to endocrinology [4] . In his doctoral dissertation, he established the dependence of the adrenal gland segregation function on special secretory nerves. In 1925, thanks to research conducted with his student 3. I. Malkin , he established the principle of autoregulation in the interaction between the hormones of the adrenal glands and the pancreas [3] . The field of scientific interests of Cheboksarov also included the problem of atherosclerosis, issues of nephrology and gastroenterology. He gave a clear description of pyloroduodenitis [4] .
