Biography

He began stage work at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1901-1905 he was the head of the theater group "Taara" in Yuriev . In 1907-1908 he worked at the Vanemuine Theater , in 1909-1914 and from 1915 at the Estonia Theater .

He contributed to the establishment of realism in Estonian stage art, the creation of an ensemble of performers of the play, and the production of plays of a socially significant and socially critical repertoire (G. Ibsen , E. Wilde, and others).

A strong influence on him was the work of O. Brahma and M. Reinhardt .

The directorial work of K. Jungholtz was distinguished by the thoroughness of psychological analysis, the desire for detail. He conveyed everyday details (especially in early productions), sought to create an accurate atmosphere of action on the stage.
