Biography

Born on November 23, 1937 [1] [2] in the Tarsky district of the Omsk region [3] . He was educated at the Omsk State Higher Institute of Education and Science [2] .

In 1962 he became the winner of the Championship of the USSR Armed Forces in sambo wrestling [3] .

He began his career as a coach in the city of Omsk . He organized the work of sports schools in the fight against sambo [4] .

Coached by N. Danilov , Vladimir Klivodenko , who won the world title, as well as European champion in sambo A. Khosh and European champion in judo Yevgeny Pogorelov [2] [4] . In Volgograd, he organized a center for the development of sambo wrestling [4] .

Vladimir Zaripzyanovich Shestakov called Anatoly Khmelev his mentor [5] .

In the second half of the 1970s, Anatoly Khmelev moved to Moscow to work as the head coach of Dynamo CS. He influenced the development and formation of such athletes as Grigory Verichev , Nikolai Solodukhin , Alexander Yatskevich , Valery Devisenko, Vitaliy Pesnyak [4] . Anatoly Khmelev helped Vitaly Pesnyak - he allowed the athlete to show his abilities, so Vitaly Pesnyak got to the European Junior Championship and won it [6] . He worked in the Judo Federation of Russia as a reserve trainer [1] .

He died on November 11, 2001 [1] . He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery .

Since 2002, in the city of Omsk , an all-Russian tournament in memory of Anatoly Alekseevich Khmelev has been held [7] .
