Daniel Isaac Axelrod ( July 16, 1910 - June 2, 1998 ), one of the leading experts in the field of paleoecology of the twentieth century, specialized in the tertiary flora of the North American Cordillera , in particular, the correlation of the data of fossil remains of a specific flora with indicators of climate change.

Biography
He received a bachelor's degree in botany , a master's and Ph.D. in paleobotany from the University of California (Berkeley) . He served in the US Army during World War II , was engaged in the implementation of strategic analysis of aerial photographs of terranes . After the war, he worked as an assistant professor of geology at the University of California, Los Angeles . He eventually became a professor of geology and botany in Los Angeles before moving to the University of California at Davis as a professor of paleoecology at the end of his career. He was awarded the title of Honorary Professor in 1976. He was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1981. [four]
His collection of fossil flora remains is kept at the University of California (Berkeley) Museum of Paleontology.
