Biography

Born on March 5, 1953 in the city of Krasny Sulin.

In 1974 he graduated from the Kachin Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots [2] . Then until 1987 he served as a pilot in the Soviet Air Force .

From 1987 to 1992 he trained at the Cosmonaut Training Center. Yu. A. Gagarin [2] .

As a crew commander, he took part in the Soyuz TM-24 flight, which lasted from August 17, 1996 to March 2, 1997 [1] .

From June 5 [2] to December 7, 2002 he was the head of the fifth crew of the International Space Station [1] .
