Kisamos ( Greek Δήμος Κισσάμου ) is a community (dim) in Greece in the north-west of the island of Crete on the coast of the Cretan Sea in the peripheral unit of Chania in the periphery of Crete . It includes the Gramvousa Peninsula, the uninhabited islands of Agria-Gramvousa , Imeri-Gramvousa and Pondikonision ( Ποντικονήσι ). The population of 10,790 inhabitants according to the 2011 census [2] . The area is 341.018 square kilometers [1] . The density of 31.64 people per square kilometer [2] . The administrative center is Kisamos . Theodoros Statakis ( Θεόδωρος Σταθάκης ) was elected Dimarch in the local elections of 2014.

The Kasteli community was created in 1925 ( ΦΕΚ 27Α ), in 1947 ( ΦΕΚ 104Α ) the Kasteli community was created, in 1969 ( ΦΕΚ 147Α ) the community was renamed Kisamos. In 2010 ( ΦΕΚ 87Α ) under the Kallikratis program , the abolished communities of Inachorion and Mithimna were added to the Kisamos community [3] .
