Theft I (Arborea)

Theft of I ( Hugo ) ( Italian: Ugone I di Arborea , Ugo Ponce de Bas ; 1178 - 1211 ) - Viscount Basa (Catalonia), judge of Arborea since 1185.

The son of Hugo de Basa (d. 1185) and Sinispella di Lacon Serra. From the father he inherited the Viscountry Bas. My mother was the grandson of Barizone II - judge of Arborea.

In 1185, at the age of seven, with the support of Adalburza, the widow of Barizone II, he was proclaimed judge of Arborea (regent - Ramon de Torroja, brother-in-law of Adalburza).

Pietro di Serra , the eldest son of Barisonone II from his first wife, who was supported by Pisa, claimed power in the judiciary. In 1192, an agreement was reached, according to which Ugone and Pietro were declared co-rulers.

In 1195, Arborea was captured by Guglielmo di Massa - Judge Cagliari. Pietro di Serra and his son, future judge Barizone III , were captured. Hijack I fled to Genoa and continued to call himself King of Sardinia.

The administration of the Viscountry was transferred to Bas Ugone at first by Pons III (d. 1194) - to his uncle (father's brother), then to his son Pedro III. In 1198, he requested his Catalan possessions back, paying Pedro III compensation.

In 1206, Hijack married Preziosa - the daughter of Guglielmo di Massa , and returned to Arborea. He left Hugo III, son of Ramon de Torroch, as regent of the Viscountry Bas. His power in Arbor was nominal - the actual ruler continued to be his father-in-law.

Theft died in 1211. He was succeeded by his son - Pietro II .
