Biography

Born on August 14, 1724 in Durkheim ( Kurpfalz ). The eldest son of Frederick Magnus, Count of Leiningen-Dagsburg-Hardenburg (1703-1756), and his wife, Countess Anna Cristina Eleonora von Wurmbrand-Stuppach (1698-1763), daughter of the President of the Imperial Court Council of Count Johann Joseph Wilhelm von Wurmbrand (16) -1750). On the paternal side - the grandson of Count Johann Friedrich von Leiningen-Dagsburg-Hardenburg (1661-1722), and Katharina von Baden-Durlach (1677-1746), the daughter of Margrave VII Frederick VII Magnus von Baden-Durlach , sister of Margrave Charles III Wilhelm von Wilhelm Durlach , founder of the city of Karlsruhe .

On October 28, 1756, after the death of his father, Karl Friedrich Wilhelm became the new Earl of Leiningen-Dagsburg-Hardenburg. On July 3, 1779, the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II granted him the title of imperial prince .

In 1796, French troops drove the count family from the Palatinate. In 1801, Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Leiningen lost his possessions on the left bank of the Rhine , namely Hardenburg , Falkenburg and Durkheim , which went to France. Amorbach in Bavaria became the new residence of the family. In 1803, the Principality of Leiningen was created, bordering the kingdom of Bavaria and the Grand Duchy of Baden , its territory is completely surrounded by the territories of these states.

In 1806, the Principality of Leiningen was mediated by the Grand Duchy of Baden, in 1810 passed to the Grand Duchy of Hesse , and in 1816 it became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria .

Family

On June 24, 1749, Karl Friedrich Wilhelm married his cousin, Christian Wilhelmina Louise Solms-Redelheim and Assenheim (April 24, 1736 - January 6, 1803), the daughter of Wilhelm Karl Ludwig, Count Solms-Redelheim and Assenheim, and Countess Maridimonie Marie Margarene Margarene Margarene Margarene Margarene of Margarene Margarene Margaret Margaret Stuppach.
