Yuri Egorov Vereskov (born in 1946 [1] in Nizhny Tagil [2] ) is a publicist, writer, world champion of the 1960s among the disabled [3] .

Biography
Yuri Egorov Vereskov was born in Nizhny Tagil [2] in 1946 [1] . He was brought up in an incomplete family: his stepfather was a tank officer, and died, his mother was called Evdokia Ivanovna. He studied at the orphanage, which was located in the village of Schelkun, Sverdlovsk region . He was engaged in weightlifting , karate , wrestling and cycling. He was fond of photography and carpentry. His coach in classical wrestling was Alexander Alexandrovich Lopatin [2] . He was engaged in weightlifting in the sports club "Uralets" with coach Boris Popov [4] .
He was educated at the Leningrad State Institute of Physical Culture named after P. F. Lesgaft [2] .
A participant in the Nizhny Tagil - Moscow - Leningrad bicycle race, which was organized in honor of the opening of the Olympic Games. A participant in a bike ride through the heroic cities of the USSR [2] . He worked as a teacher in the department of physical education of Ural State Technical University -UPI [5] . He has a black belt and the title of honorary member of the American martial arts school "Budo Kai Kan" [2] .
President of the Ural Regional Public Sports and Health Center for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities "Prometheus - Achilles - SKI", deputy of the city council, laureate of the All-Russian Fund "Stability" [2] . In 2005 he was awarded the Zhukov Medal [5] .
