Nadja

Nadja is the duet of Aidan Baker and Leah Bakareff. The group was founded in 2002 as a solo project for Baker. He performed a weighted version of ambient and experimental music primarily on electric guitar. In 2005, Leah Bakareff joined Aidan.

The group’s compositions combine electronic and atmospheric vocals with slow, powerful riffs and funeral percussions , creating a slowly moving wave of music. The style of the band can be characterized as drone doom , ambient and noise .

After several worldwide editions of CD-Rs on a number of small limited-edition labels , Nadja released their first official album, Truth Becomes Death, at the 2005 Alien8 Recordings label in Montreal . Since then, they have been releasing material on more widespread labels and are now in the process of re-publishing old records either updated or completely re-composed (for example, Touched (2007) was re-recorded on Alien8 , as well as the album Bodycage , which is now released on Equation . Nadja performed Canada , Europe , the United States and Ukraine along with other artists, including Kayo Dot , Knurl , Khanate , Francisco Lopez , Isis , Ocean and Mare .
