Detection History
In 1999, during a joint expedition of the Paleontological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation and the Livensky Museum of Local Lore , excavations were carried out at the Gornostaevsky quarry in the Oryol Region south-west of the city of Livny . The museum’s senior researcher, Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation Oleg Yakubson, discovered there scattered bones of a prehistoric animal. The interorbital part of the skull, the upper part of the shoulder and part of the thigh were found; also, possibly, the fragment of the back of the skull belongs to the animal. The remains were investigated and scientifically described in the PIN RAS [4] [3] .
