Next, Schlesinger divided the lateral group of the veins of the thalamus into two subgroups - the upper lateral ( venae laterales superiores thalami ) and the lower lateral ( venae laterales inferiores thalami ) on the basis of where they originate and where they fall. According to his definition, the lateral superior veins of the thalamus flow into the superior thalamostrias vein , and the lateral inferior veins of the thalamus flow into the basal vein (Rosenthal's vein) or into one of its interpedicular inflows. - Lateral upper subgroup
- The paired lateodorsal veins of the thalamus ( venae latero-dorsales thalami ) collect blood from the laterodorsal nuclei of the respective halos of the thalamus, and flow into the superior thalamostrias vein. [one]

- Paired lateocaudal ( venae latero-caudales thalami ) and lateral-ventral veins of the thalamus ( venae latero-ventrales thalami ) collect blood, respectively, from the caudal and ventral parts of the lateral group of nuclei of the corresponding half of the thalamus, and flow into the basal vein.
