Biography
Mark Annius belonged to the provincial aristocracy. His father moved to Rome from Betica and under the emperor Nero received praetorship , thanks to which Annias became part of the senatorial estate. In 73/74, they were ranked as a patriciate .
Mark Annius, in 97, held the post of Consul Suffect . He became a friend of Emperor Hadrian and became related to him: his wife Rupilia Faustina was the uterine sister of Adrian's wife Vibia Sabina and granddaughter of her niece Trajan . Thanks to this, Ver came into the inner circle of the imperial family, and his son-in-law Titus Aurelius Fulv Boyoniy Arriy Antonin became in 138 the emperor under the name Antoninus Pius .
During the reign of Hadrian, Mark Annius twice held a consular post in 121 and 126 years. From 117 to 125, he was the prefect of Rome .
Descendants
Mark Annius had three children from Rupilia Faustina. Marc Annius Ver reached his praeture in his career and became the father of the emperor Marcus Aurelius ; Mark Annius Libon was consul in 128. Finally, the daughter, Annia Galeria Faustina , was the wife of Emperor Antoninus Pius.
