Agriculture
The share of agriculture in GDP reaches 29%.
For local consumption, various food crops are grown [2] : in the south - mainly cassava and maize, in the central part - yams, millet, maize, rice, and in the north - mainly millet, sorghum, peanuts. The most important export crops, cocoa and coffee, are cultivated in small farms and on large plantations owned by Africans. Export both raw and processed agricultural products. In addition to cocoa and coffee, Togo exports a small amount of cotton, oil palm products, peanuts, cassava starch, copra, etc.
The inhabitants of the north bred buffaloes, sheep, goats, and on the coast developed mainly pig and home poultry. Many coastal residents are engaged in fishing.
Industry
The share of industry in GDP is 20.4% (2003). The main industry is mining. Table salt, dolomites and phosphorites are mined (1.07 million tons was mined in 2001). Manufacturing industry (approx. 10% of GDP). There are enterprises for processing the production of soft drinks, starch, flour, beer, palm oil, etc.), leather and footwear, textile, chemical (production of paints, varnishes, detergents, matches and plastics), clothing industries, construction materials (lumber, cement, etc.). Energy is 70% based on charcoal. There are hydropower plants on the rivers Kpalime and Mono . In 2012, 109 million kWh of electricity was produced, another 959 million kWh were imported [1] .
