Biography
Sultan Sungatullovich Yarullin was born on July 25, 1914 in the village of Agaybashevo, Laishevsky district, Kazan province [1] . In 1937 he graduated from the 1st Leningrad Artillery School. Member of World War II [2] .
Having retired to the rank of lieutenant colonel, Sultan Sungatullovich since 1955 worked as a coach. With the support of DSO Urozhay, he organized in Tetyushi a specialized youth sports school for trap shooting, which he headed from 1961 to 1986 [3] [4] [5] . In 1964 he fulfilled the standard of the USSR master of sports.
The highest results among his pupils were achieved:
- Svetlana Dyomina (Yakimova) - silver medalist of the 2000 Olympics, four-time world champion (1982, 1983, 1986, 1990) [6] ,
- Lyudmila Nikandrova (Volodina) - 1986 European Champion [7] .
Sultan Sungatullovich was married to Lydia Filippovna Yarullina (1928-2009) [8] .
He died on March 13, 1988 in Tetyushi.
Memory
In 2000, a street in Tetyushi [9] [10] was named after Yarullin.
In 2001, Sultan Sungatullovich was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Tetyusha."
Next to the Sports School, which bears the name of Yarullin, in 2004 his bust was installed [11] .
Shooting competitions in memory of Yarullin are held annually [12] [13] .
