Jean-Marie Paul Simon Durieu ( French: Jean Marie Paul Simon Durrieu , 1855-1925) - French art historian, studied medieval illuminated manuscripts. Often it is called the "big fool."

He began his scientific career with a study of the creativity of the Parisian porthole of the 15th century. Jacques from Besancon, a monograph about which was published in 1892. He studied the “Turin Hourly Book” (National Library, Turin ), which was actually an incomplete part of the Duke of Berry's “Beautiful Hourglass of the Virgin Mary” . Durieu thoroughly studied this manuscript, exploring the problems of authorship, the origin and artistic value of illustrations. The result of this work was a comprehensive monograph devoted to the hours of the Duke of Berry.
Durrier also explored the Flemish Gothic illuminated manuscripts.
