Alfred Gilks ( born Alfred Gilks ; December 29, 1891 - September 6, 1970 ) is an American cameraman. Winner of the Academy Award for Best Cinematography in the movie American in Paris .

Biography
Born December 29, 1891 in the state of California , USA. Since 1920, he began working in the cinema. He made his debut as a cameraman on the set of the film “Double Speed” directed by Sam Wood , with whom he later worked on the films “The Great Moment”, “Don't Say Anything”, “Behind the Rocks”, “The Prodigal Daughters” and “The Eighth Wife of Blue Beard”. He worked in the second crew of operators on the set of the 1956 Western Seekers . Known for the films The Milky Way and The American in Paris .
He died on September 6, 1970 in Hollywood , USA.
