Charles II, 8th Prince of Leuvenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg (full name - Karl Friedrich Franz Javier Joseph Aloisius Antonius Ignatius Expeditus Maria Scholastika ) ( German Karl Fürst zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg [1] [2] ; February 8, 1904 , Kleinheubach , Kingdom of Bavaria , German Empire - August 23, 1990 , Kleinheubach , Bavaria , Germany ) is a German aristocrat , the 8th head of the Princely House of Leuenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg (January 25, 1952 - August 23, 1990). President of the Central Committee of German Catholics (1948-1967).

Life
Born February 8, 1904 in the palace of the Princes Leuvenstein in Kleineheubach , Kingdom of Bavaria , German Empire . The third child and eldest son of Alois, the 7th Prince of Leuvenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg (1871-1952), and Countess Josephine Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau (1874-1946). The princely house of Leuvenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg came from Frederick I, Elector Palatinsky (1425-1476), and his son Louis I, Count Levenshtein (1463-1523).
Karl studied at the Stella Matutina Jesuit school in Feldkirch , and later studied philosophy and jurisprudence in Innsbruck , Munich and Würzburg . In 1928, he graduated from the University of Würzburg with a doctorate.
In 1933 - 1938, Prince Karl Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg served as chairman of the Association of Catholic Scientific Student Societies, but in 1938 this organization was dissolved by the Nazis. In 1934, Prince Karl became a member of the assault squads (SA) .
In 1948, Karl became the successor of his father as president of the central committee of German Catholics. In January 1952, after the death of his father, Alois, Karl became the 8th Prince of Leuvenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg.
In 1967, Prince Karl Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg was forced to resign from the post of president of the central committee of German Catholics because of his connection with the Nazis.
Marriage and children
On January 7, 1935 in Rome, Prince Karl Leuvenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg married Carolina Conti Rignon (February 17, 1904 - September 20, 1975), daughter of Edoardo Conti Rignon, from whom he had seven children:

- Monica Maria, Princess Levenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg (born April 28, 1939), husband since 1968, Don Jaime Mendes de Vigo y del Arco (born 1933)
