Ostapov, Alexey Danilovich

Born in 1930 in Novgorod .

In 1951 he graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary , and four years later - the Moscow Theological Academy and was left with her professor scholarship holder. In subsequent years, he taught in theological schools church archeology, the history of the Russian Church, pastoral theology and other subjects.

On November 18, 1955 , he was appointed head of the Church and Archaeological Cabinet , whose revival, with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy I, was engaged in since 1948 , together with fourth-year student of the seminary Konstantin Nechaev (future Metropolitan Pitirim ). Work in this museum collection became for Father Alexy the work of his whole life, the subject of his special attention and creative inspiration. Heading the Church Archaeological Office and reading Church archeology turns for Fr. Alexia as a whole, in the opportunity to fully serve his beloved church art.

In 1958 he was approved as Secretary of the Academy Council.

In 1960, he was ordained deacon and presbyter and awarded the degree of Master of Theology and the title of professor. For three years, Professor Archpriest Alexy Ostapov was also the head of the distance learning sector.

He died in 1975 after a short illness, at the age of 45 years.
