Kurchikov, Arkady Romanovich

Born March 3, 1954.

In 1976 - graduated from Novosibirsk State University.

From 1976 to 1996, he worked at the West Siberian Research Geological Prospecting Oil Institute (ZapSIBNIHI) (Tyumen), where he went from a junior research assistant to a deputy director of a department.

In 1982 - he defended his thesis, the topic: "Paleogeothermal conditions of formation of zones mainly oil and gas accumulation in Western Siberia" ^[2] .

In 1995 - he defended his doctoral thesis, the theme: "Heat regime of oil and gas regions of Western Siberia" ^[2] .

In 1996, he organized and headed the Research Institute of Hydrogeology and Geothermy (NIIGIG).

In 1998, he was appointed the head of the educational and scientific center, which included the Faculty of Geology and Geoinformatics, NIIGIG and ZPSibNIGRI.

Since 1999 - Director of the Institute of Geology and Geoinformatics established on the basis of the center.

Since 1996, part-time working as a professor, head of the department of geology of oil and gas fields (since 2010), Tyumen State Oil and Gas University .

Since 2000 - Director of the West-Siberian Branch of the Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics named after A. A. Trofimuk of the SB RAS .

In 2011 - elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences .

Conducts research in the field of oil and gas hydrogeology, geology of oil and gas and geothermy.

Based on the developed techniques, large-scale ground-based work in Western Siberia was carried out, including geothermal, geophysical, and geodynamic studies to predict oil and gas accumulation zones. According to the results of the research, areas and areas and horizons that are promising for oil and gas have been identified.

Works on projects related to the exploration and regional assessment of groundwater resources (industrial, fresh, iodine-bromine thermal and balneological) of the Tyumen region, as well as the selection and justification of facilities for the disposal of surpluses of produced water in the oil fields of Western Siberia; with the rationale for the possibility of pumping industrial effluents into deep aquifers.

The author of 220 published works (including 14 monographs and textbooks).

Coordinator of state projects within the framework of fundamental scientific research programs of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences: “The evolution of hydrogeochemical composition and temperature field in the development of giant oil fields of the West Siberian sedimentary basin by methods of contour and boundary flooding”, “The evolution of hydrogeological systems in oil and gas regions of Western Siberia”.

• Member of the Section of Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry and Mining Sciences of the Earth Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
• Member of the Committee of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (RAS) for geothermal research (1987);
• Member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the problems of geology and development of oil and gas fields (2003);
• Member of the Presidium of the SB RAS;
• Member of the Joint Scientific Council on Earth Sciences of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2002–2008)
• Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Tyumen Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
• Member of the Board of the Russian Union of Hydrogeologists (2011).
