Cosala ( Spanish: Cosalá ) is a municipality in Mexico , Sinaloa , with an administrative center in the city of the same name . The population according to the 2010 census was 16697 people.

Content
General information
The name Cosalá from Astekian languages can be translated as: a beautiful place or place in emerald waters [3] .
The area of the municipality is 2172 km², which is 3.79% of the state’s area [4] . It borders with other municipalities in the state of Sinaloa : in the south with San Ignacio and Elota , and in the west with Culiacan , as well as in the north and east, it borders with another state of Mexico - Durango .

According to statistics from 2000, the working population is employed by sectors of the economy in the following proportions: agriculture, livestock and fishing - 45.7%, industry and construction - 17.1%, services and tourism - 31.5%, etc. - 5.7% [4] .

According to 2010 statistics, the infrastructure is developed as follows [4] :
- electrification: 97.4%;
- water supply: 79.3%;
- water disposal: 73.1%.
Tourism
Main Attractions [3] :
- administrative center, which was awarded the title of "magic town";
- Santa Ursula Church, built in the 18th century;
- archaeological and historical museum, which presents: exhibits of the pre-Spanish period; rocks mined in local mines; the remains of a mammoth;
- several natural areas in the mountains, on rivers and lakes, designed for recreation and fishing.
