Biography
Born in 1929. He began to engage in rowing in the postwar years, having hit the Leningrad rowing club "Red Banner". He trained under the guidance of outstanding trainers Mikhail Iosifovich and Vera Alexandrovna Savrimovich . He was also fond of skiing (1 category), athletics (1 category), but in the end he gave preference to rowing.
Kirsanov was one of the strongest rowers of the post-war period. His sports debut took place in 1948 at the USSR Championship. There, he, together with Yuri Tyukalov in the double oar , won the champion title. In 1949, the Eighteen 19-year-old athletes from the Red Banner rowing club with Zagrebny V. A. Kirsanov won the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions. Then they defeated last year’s champions of the famous eight “Wings of the Soviets”. Again in 1949 at the USSR Championship, already in the four with the helmsman of the Red Banner, consisting of R. Zakharov, Yu. Rogozov, Yu. Tyukalov Zagrebny V. Kirsanov and the helmsman V. A. Since 1958, Vladimir Alexandrovich began to try himself as a coach, although he had been mentoring before. Successfully worked with both male and female crews, achieving high results in any competition. The most prominent of his students were the Olympic champions of 1960 in the two-wheelless Valentin Boreyko and Oleg Golovanov . Kirsanov’s wards were also winners and champions of the USSR, Europe, World L. Gruzdev, K. Hamelyainen, V. Chemeers, K. Alexandrova, G. Ostapov, V. Zolin, A. Rokin, L. Ryabinkin, R. Korotaev, G. Ermolaev, V. Kurilina and many others [1] . In total, he trained more than 20 masters of sports. In 1983, he worked as a consultant coach for the Peruvian national team [2] .

During this time he wrote a lot of teaching aids, he was also a co-author of the textbook “Rowing”. In 1950 he was elected to the Presidium of the College of Judges of Leningrad . In 1961 he was awarded the title " Honored Trainer of the RSFSR ". He had the title of judge of the All-Union category (1967) and the international category (1979) [1] . He was a judge at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow and the 1985 Goodwill Games [2] .

He was awarded the Order " For Labor Valor " [1] .
