Origin
Quintus Laberia belonged to a little-known plebeian genus. The degree of his relationship with the outstanding playwright and friend of Cicero Decimo Laberie is not precisely established.
Biography
From the biography of Quint Laberia it is only known that he, with the rank of military tribune, participated in the Gallic war of Guy Julius Caesar and in his first invasion of Britain . It is known that shortly after the landing of the Romans in the south-east of Britain, they were subjected to a sudden attack by local residents. By the time of the second attack of the Britons, Quintus Laberius was already dead [1] . The place of his burial is traditionally considered to be an earthen mound near the so-called Juliberi Cemetery (which is actually the long mound of the early Neolithic ) near the village of Chilhem .
Labery Dur in literature
Orosius in his History of the Gentiles calls Quintus Labien [2] , confusing him with Caesar’s legate . The same mistake makes trouble Honorable [3] and Galfrid of Monmouth [4] . Galfrid adds that Laberia was killed by a certain Nennius.
Modern American poet, essayist and translator Gabriel Gooding dedicated one of his poems to Quintus Labéry (“Quintus Labéry Douro, who died because of a spear in his lungs around Kent in early August 54 BC.”).
