Biography
Boris Alekseevich Romantsev was born on October 16, 1946. After graduating from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1969, by decision of the Academic Council, he was sent to graduate school. In 1973 he defended his PhD, and in 1993, his doctoral dissertation, specializing in Metal Processing by Pressure.
From 1972, he worked at MISiS as a junior researcher, senior researcher, head of the industrial laboratory for the production of hollow rolling products, from 1991 to 1994 - associate professor of the Department of OMD, and from 1994 - professor of the same department.
In 1995, B.A. Romantsev was elected dean of the Faculty of Technology, which he headed until 2006. From 1998 to 2016. he headed the departments: metal forming; technologies and equipment for pipe production, and after the combination of the departments of TTP and PDSS - the department of OMD. He is currently a professor in this department.
Scientific and educational activities
The main scientific direction of B.A. Romantseva - processes and equipment for metal forming. He is a recognized specialist in the field of pipe and detail rolling, has over 300 scientific works, including 140 inventions (including 40 introduced into production), a monograph, three textbooks and a number of teaching aids. Under his scientific supervision, the development of technological processes and equipment for producing hot-rolled pipes and long products, the design of minivans for various purposes. A series of work is underway on the deformation of alloys based on titanium, copper, aluminum, nickel. Modern methods have been developed for calculating the technological modes of screw rolling of pipes and rods, calibrations of a technological tool, power and kinematic parameters.
The results of scientific research B.A. Romantseva was sold at the following enterprises: Volzhsky Pipe Plant OJSC, Tagmet OJSC , ChTPZ CJSC , Sibselmash NPO , Selmash Kirov Plant , NLMK OJSC , Krasny Oktyabr Metallurgical Plant CJSC in Volgograd , NPO Pribor and others.
During his work at MISiS, under his leadership, two doctoral and ten master's theses were prepared and successfully defended. B.A. Romantsev is a member of the Dissertation Councils at MISiS and VILS , an honorary professor at the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine .
Recognition
In 1990, he was awarded the Prize of the Council of Ministers of the USSR for the creation and implementation of detail rolling technology and high-performance equipment for producing hollow profiled billets, and in 2001 for the development and implementation of radial-shear deformation processes for the production of high-quality rolled products from zirconium, titanium and other difficultly deformed alloys - Prizes of the Government of the Russian Federation .
