Club

Stefan Kretschmar is a graduate of FC Dynamo Berlin from the GDR . Kretschmar began his professional career in 1991 at the German club Blau Weiss Spandau. In 1993, Kretschmar moved to Gummersbach. In 1996, Kretschmar moved to IC Magdeburg , where he completed his professional career. As part of the Magdeburg IC, Kretschmar won the German championship in 2001, and in 2002 helped the Magdeburg IC win the EHF Champions League.

Stefan Kretschmar played 218 matches for the German national team and scored 821 goals.

Coaching career

During May 2013, Kretschmar was a co-trainer of the German club SK Leipzig.
