Story
The series takes place about 10 years after the end of the game. In the city of Ayanagi, police are investigating cases where victims are literally turned inside out. Two brothers - Shin and Jun Kanzato - are returning to the city to meet with their older brother Ryo, now serving as the city’s police chief. They have not seen each other for 10 years.
The mysterious incidents in the city are rumored to be related to secret testing conducted under the supervision of Keisuke Kamatsubara, who tried to find all the owners of the Person and figure out the strongest of them until the project was disbanded.

Criticism
The anime series received mixed reviews from critics. So Carlo Santos in his review for Anime News Network noted that the plot of the game Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 was “an ideal candidate for anime adaptation” due to its setting and plot, but Persona: Trinity Soul , according to the reviewer, has the same attitude to the original as the Twilight novel to Bram Stoker's Dracula [2] . Santos explained this by the fact that the series only uses certain thematic elements of the original source for development as a supernatural mystical detective, but he hesitates between a school drama and a description of the procedural actions of the police [2] . Despite the presence of an attractive visual range, in Santos' view, many fans of the original game will remain disappointed [2] .
According to IGN columnist Di Ef Smith, the most interesting part of the Persona: Trinity Soul plot is the central line with the participation of the main characters — Jun, Sina and Ryo, and all side storylines are far from being as interesting as the stories of the minor characters of the original and contain rather boring battle scenes [3] . Smith noted that the development of the plot is not very original, and also criticized the poor work of the animators on the character design and the excessive use of the transparency effect, in his opinion, which turned the battles into a “fuzzy mess” [3] .
