Reviews
The first evenings of reading the novel by Kvadratov are lulling - beautifully, poetically, viscously. The third night returned the reader to Basmanki, who had walked down on foot, to the circles near Lefortov with a constant hit on ABVGDeyka. Returning back to the utter cellars of memory, where more happens than is carried out into the light. And one must become a gnome, a gnome, in order to see, remember and experience everything again.

Connoisseurs have long known Mikhail Kvadratov, one of the most peculiar poets of present-day Russia. It seemed to many that his poems, in which miraculous creatures perform miraculous acts, are separated by an irresistible moat from the reality surrounding us. Having written his first novel, Kvadratov personally fell asleep in this moat, providing his poetic archipelago with a clear coordinate grid. This novel is deceitful, proteic, turning into either a treatise, or a guide, or a catalog, or a cosmogonic legend. The “Gnome pit” is also the home of the gnomes, gnomes, gnomuses - agents of the earth element, and Moscow of the nineties, where Russian boys and Russian uncles, roaming in the ruins of their former lives, roamed Brownian, scammed back and forth with business somnambuli, loaded, they dragged, counted, and copied the goods randomly attached to them. The portrait of this era performed by Kvadratov is both recognizable and unusual, which makes him especially convincing.
