Biography
Fabiana Alvin de Oliveira was born in Rio de Janeiro in the family of João Maurilio de Oliveira and Vera Alvin. As a child, she played football , but at the age of 12 she switched to volleyball , and the following year she was accepted into the Flamengo youth team. She started her sports career as an attacker, but due to the low growth, the game accent was on protective actions, and with the introduction in 1998, the role of libero mastered this game function. In the same year, she made her debut in the Super League of the Brazilian Championship as part of the Petrobras team from Macaé .
In 2002, Fabiana was first included in the Brazilian national team by the then national team coach Marco Aurelio Motta and took part in the Grand Prix draw, receiving the prize of the best defender of the final tournament, and in the World Championship . The following year, she won her first “gold”, becoming the champion of South America , but then the new national team coach Zé Roberto was not called up for the next season.
Since 2005, Fabi has been again in the Brazilian national team and has played for her for the next 8 years, having won 16 championship titles with a team in various world and continental competitions, including two Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012. Interesting that in the debut seasons in the national team, Fabi performed under the name Fabiana [1] , but after returning she reduced her playing name to Fabi, due to the fact that by that time the volleyball player under the same name - Fabiana Claudino had already played for the national team.
Since 2005, Fabi at the club level has consistently been in favor of the Rexon-Ades team (formerly Unilever, now Rexon-Cesc) from Rio de Janeiro , becoming with her 10-time champion and 3-time owner Brazilian Cup, as well as the 4-time winner of the South American club championships . In 2018 she ended her gaming career. Currently working as a volleyball commentator [2] .
Fabi is considered to be one of the strongest libero world volleyball. 15 times she was recognized as the best in her role at various official international competitions - both among teams and among clubs. In addition, at such tournaments, four times became the best at the reception and once the best defender.
