Content

New Features

Silent Assassin corrected many shortcomings in the first part: game management was improved and simplified, a first-person view and an indicator of suspicion were added, which allows the player to understand how close the enemies are to reveal it.

A ranking system has also been added. After each mission, the player receives a rank for the quality of its execution, ranging from aggressive passage to secretive, between Mass Murderer , when the player behaves openly and kills everyone in a row, and Silent Assassin , when the player was completely invisible and killed only his target. Obtaining Silent Assassin , the player earns a new weapon, which he can take with him on a mission.

Silent Assassin uses the improved and updated Glacier engine , which was also used in the development of the first part.

Story

The game takes place in 2002-2003.

The plot begins 2 years after the events of Hitman: Codename 47 , 47 refuses to work as a killer and tries to atone for sins by living and working as a gardener in a monastery under the auspices of Father Vittorio. But life soon breaks down again. Mafia kidnaps Vittorio. Desperate, 47 again turns to the Agency, in which he previously worked to ask them to help him find Vittorio. The agency agrees to help him, but in return 47 will fulfill several orders. 47 agrees.

With the help of its companions, the Agency discovers that Vittorio is kept in the mansion of the mafia don Giuseppe Giuliani. 47 enters the mansion, trying to free Vittorio, killing Giuliani on the way. However, Vittorio 47 cannot be found.

Missions

  1. Gontrano Temple   ( Italy , Carini )
Training level at the monastery when abduction of father Vittorio takes place.
  2. Anathema   ( Italy , Carini )
The search for Father Vittorio leads 47 to the mansion of the mafia don Giuseppe Giuliani. 47 kills the Don, but the Russians take Vittorio's father with them.
  3. Persecution in Petersburg   ( Russia , St. Petersburg )
Now, under an agreement with the Agency, 47 must complete several tasks for them. 47 should kill the ex- KGB general, who should come to a meeting where it will be very easy to commit the murder.

The player can destroy the target in several ways. You can set a bomb under the target’s car .
  4. Meeting in the Kirov Park   ( Russia , St. Petersburg )
After the assassination of the first general, the other generals became very scared and began an investigation; the client wants them to die all. General Makarov and local crime boss Igor Kubasco meet in Kirov Park to discuss the protection of the surviving generals. 47 you need to kill them both.
  5. Underground torpedo   ( Russia , St. Petersburg )
The third ex- KGB general Mikhail Bardachenko interrogates the prisoner about the murders at the military headquarters in the area of Nevsky Prospekt. 47 must enter the building, kill Mikhail Bardachenko, save the prisoner (who turns out to be CIA agent Smith, an “old acquaintance” 47 from the last Codename 47 game) and escape through the sewer.
  6. Party invitation   ( Russia , St. Petersburg )
The last general is General Vladimir Zubkov, who decided to run away from Russia and is in the German consulate for this reason. On the 47th, they sent to the consulate on the evening party with the order to kill Zubkov, as well as steal a suitcase containing a missile control system. For the same purpose, a special forces agent was sent to the consulate.

Some targets can be killed by poisoning their food .
  7. Following Hayamoto   ( Japan , Tatsuno )
To find Masahiro Hayamoto, the head of the famous Yakuza Yamaguchi-Gumi, 47 must kill his son, Masahiro Jr., and hide a GPS transmitter in his corpse, which will reveal the refuge of Hayamoto Sr.
  8. Mysterious valley   ( Japan , Katsuyama )
In the mountain valley, before the 47th, the task was set - to get to the gate at the other end of the valley. But to do this is not so easy as it might seem at first glance. The valley is carefully guarded, watch towers are located everywhere, and the area is patrolled. The only loophole is the underground tunnel, where supplies trucks arrive.
  9. At the Gate   ( Japan , Katsuyama )
After passing the outer perimeter of the guard, the 47th penetrates inside. To get into the lock itself, you need to find and turn off the alarm power generators.
  10. Duel with the Shogun   ( Japan , Katsuyama )
The castle is carefully guarded - everywhere there are laser alarms and creaking floors, the slightest noise - and wait for trouble. In the basement is a special missile guidance device that must be stolen. Masahiro Hayamoto himself is on the top floor. Also in the castle is the notorious sexy beauty Lei Lin, who is again happy to help the 47th (although, in fact, Forty-Seventh will help her).
  11. Basement killing   ( Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur )
An Agency client wants 47 to go to Malaysia and steal the rocket launcher protection software sold by a hacker, Charlie Sjan. 47 enters the basement of the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur , kills Charlie, learns that it is only his twin brother and turns off the elevator security system to climb to the top of one of the towers.
  12. Night shift   ( Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur )
By disabling elevator protection, 47 gains access to the server rooms, installs a device there to crack the computer, with which the client receives the necessary programs. Next 47 runs away across the bridge, thrown to the next tower.
  13. Jacuzzi job   ( Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur )
The real Charlie is now enjoying a penthouse whirlpool with the girls. 47 kills him and steals some valuable things to present it as a robbery.
  14. Murder in the Bazaar   ( Afghanistan , Shashsadkoti )
47 are sent to Afghanistan to track down one “cargo” (which turns out to be missile warheads). His first task is to pick up the card from Lieutenant Ahmed Zahir and the key from Colonel Mohammed Amin. Officially, the agent was ordered to kill both, but in this mission 47 may show mercy (at the player’s choice): simply neutralize the officers and take away the necessary things from them.
  15. Motorcade Interception   ( Afghanistan , Shashsadkoti )
The person who hides the cargo, Sheikh Abdul Bismillah Malik, is escorted by UN peacekeepers who must check (and then acquire) the cargo. 47 kills Malik with one accurate shot and escapes, hiding behind a general panic.
  16. Tunnel rat   ( Afghanistan , Shashsadkoti )
The location of the cargo is known. 47 penetrates an underground base, hunts down and kills Lieutenant Yousef Hussein and escapes with a load out.
  17. Ambush in the temple city   ( India , Amritsar )
The cargo was stolen from the Russian Sikhs with the assistance of an agent very similar to 47, and 47 should return it back. He meets with Agent Smith, who reports 47 of two killers sent by a cult leader to kill Smith. 47 finds and kills them, takes corpses with a camera and brings photos to Smith, and in return receives information about the location of the entrance to the territory of the neighboring hospital. After that, Smith falls down drunk on the table, and 47 finds a secret passage in the store selling carpets, and slips away on it.
  18. Hannelor's death   ( India , Amritsar )
Before embarking on a cult, 47 kills Dr. Hannelor von Kamprad, a personal doctor, and the main cult ideologist (the first female target in the Hitman series) and hides her in the pantry.
  19. Ultimate hospitality   ( India , Amritsar )
The cult leader, Divanna G, is under anesthesia before a heart operation in a hospital on the island. 47 finds and kills the cult leader (47 opened the chest leader to the cult leader and did not sew) and escapes from the island. On the pier, he meets a very similar clone who shoots at him and hides in a tunnel under the hospital.
  20. Visit to St. Petersburg again   ( Russia , St. Petersburg )
In the end, 47 finds out that all this time he worked for Sergei Zavorotko, the leader of the Russian mafia , who used 47 to kill people who knew about the missile system. 47 returns to St. Petersburg to kill Zavorotko, but soon realizes that the Agency gave him blank cartridges for a sniper rifle , and Zavorotko himself was just a cardboard doll. In addition, 47 is forced to fight with another clone, Agent 17. 47 kills 17 and leaves for the metro.
  21. Ransom in Gontrano   ( Italy , Carini )
Zavorotko returns to the shrine of Gontrano with his captive father Vittorio, from where he abducted him at the beginning. 47 decides to free Vittorio at all costs, he takes up arms and kills all of Sergey’s guards, enters the church and kills Zavorotko, leaving Vittorio alive. Father Vittorio gives the 47th cross and asks to follow the righteous path and find peace in his life, doing as the soul commands. 47 makes a promise and leaves Vittorio. He leaves the donated cross in the temple, and he goes into the distance, arguing that he will not forget those who betrayed him and those who were with him to the end, as well as that no one can be trusted, and that he will now perform justice, according to one’s personal convictions.

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin received rave reviews. On the Rotten Tomatoes PC, the version got a rating of 100% fresh, 8.8 / 10 based on 19 reviews. [42] On the Metacritic website, the PC version scored 87/100 based on 20 reviews. [43]

Disputes

The release of the game caused a lot of controversy over the killing of Sikhs in their sacred places. Eidos convinced everyone that the enemies at the game levels were not Sikhs and that the “temples” were actually a hospital. In an alternative version of Silent Assassin , which was released on GameCube and Windows , the Sikhs turned into a "cult of G".
