Hangabi (mountain)

Hangabee (or Mount Hungabee ) is a mountain located on the American Continental Divide on the border of the Yoho and Banff National Parks located in the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta , respectively.

Hangabi

Officially, the name of the mountain in 1894 was given by mountaineer and explorer Samuel Allen : translated from the language of the Stony Indians living in this area, “Hangaby” means “ leader ” [2] [1] . This name was assigned to the peak because it is the highest compared to the peaks surrounding it [3] [1] .

For the first time in 1903, American physicist and mountaineer , accompanied by Hans and Christian Kauffman, ascended Khangabi.

The traditional route for climbing the mountain is its western ridge. However, in early summer it is not recommended to climb it, since there is a great danger of avalanches , especially from the north-west slope [1] .
