History

The post was approved by the 14th article of the Law on the Legal Status of Gagauzia No. 344-XIII of December 23, 1994 . All public authorities in Gagauzia are subordinate to him. The Bashkan is elected by universal, equal, direct, secret and free ballot on an alternative basis for a term of 4 years. One and the same person can be a Bashkan no more than two times in a row. He must be a citizen of Moldova over 35 years old and know the Gagauz language . The Bashkan of Gagauzia is approved as a member of the Moldovan government by a decree of the country's president . The Bashkan can issue decisions and decrees that are valid throughout the territory of Gagauzia.

Gagauzia Bashkan Elections 2019

The next elections of the Bashkan of Gagauzia were held, in accordance with the decision of the National Assembly held on June 30, 2019 . [1] According to the Code of Gagauzia, the Bashkan (head) of autonomy is elected for four years, on the basis of universal equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot. [2]

Four candidates were allowed to participate in the election commission of Gagauzia: incumbent Bashkan Irina Vlakh, deputy of the National Assembly Sergei Chimpoes, ex-deputy of the National Assembly Ivan Burguji and businessman Dmitry Manol.

According to official figures, the current head of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, won, who gained 91.27% (49742 votes). The turnout was 50.35%. [3]

Gagauzia Bashkan Elections 2015

March 22, 2015 held the election of the Head of Gagauzia. 10 candidates took part in them, all of them were self-nominated, but some of them were supported by various political parties. These were the first elections that took place in one round in which the victory was won by Irina Vlakh (51.11%) which was supported by the PSRM . Gagauzia Bashkan Election 2006

The fourth election of the Bashkan of Gagauzia was held on December 3 and 17, 2006. Voter turnout in the first round was 62.6%, in the second - 64.3%. The mayor of Chadyr-Lungi Mikhail Formuzal was elected the head of Gagauzia, and the current Bashkan, Georgy Tabunshchik, took 3rd place. [6]

Gagauzia Bashkan Election 2002
