Pushkin, Victor Vasilievich

Viktor Vasilyevich Pushkin ( November 5, 1923 , Moscow - September 30, 2002 , ibid.) - Soviet boxer , writer . He performed at the all-Union level in the light and semi-light weight categories in the mid 1940s, two-time champion of the USSR, twice silver medalist of Soviet national championships, master of sports of the USSR . He carried out coaching in the sports society " Wings of the Soviets ", the personal trainer of the famous Soviet boxer Boris Stepanov . After completing his sports career, he was engaged in literary work, the author of a number of books on boxing, a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR .

Biography

Victor Pushkin was born on November 5, 1923 in Moscow .

The first serious success as a boxer was in 1944, when he joined the Krylya Sovetov voluntary sports society and won the USSR Championship in Moscow in the standings of the featherweight category. A year later, at similar competitions, he repeated this achievement, but in lightweight, in addition, he won an experimental match for the prizes of the USSR IC, in which all boxers were divided into only three weight categories.

At the 1946 USSR Championship, he became a silver medalist, losing in a decisive match to Army player Anatoly Greiner . The last time showed any significant result at the all-Union level in the 1948 season, when, as a member of the Pishchevik sports society, he won a silver medal in featherweight at the USSR championship in Tbilisi and Leningrad , having been defeated by Leningrad Ivan Knyazev . Fulfilled the standard of the master of sports of the USSR [1] .

At the same time as performing in the ring, Pushkin was also involved in coaching, in particular, Boris Stepanov , two-time silver medalist of the European championships, six-time USSR champion, participant of the Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne, was his student [2] .

After completing his sports career in 1951, Victor Pushkin graduated from the A. Gorky Literary Institute and took up literary work. In subsequent years, several books on the boxing themes of his authorship were published in Moscow: “A Young Man Enters the Ring” (1955), the novel “Three Rounds” (1956), the novel “First Step” (1959), “Before Entering the Ring” ( 1965), the story “The Biggest Victory” (1965), “Deadlock” (1969), the story “Affectionate Trainer” (1970), “The Eternal Second” (1972), the collection of short stories and novels “Memorable Battle” (1980), the novel "Second Wind" (1983). He was a member of the Union of Writers of the USSR [3] [4] .

He died on September 30, 2002 at the age of 78. He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery in Moscow.
