The Lang tier (along the Lang hills in Italy) is the third tier of the Miocene section of the Neogene system from the bottom. Rocks of the Lang tier formed over the Lang Lang , lasting from 15.97 ± 0.05 to 13.82 ± 0.05 Ma ago [1] [2] .
The Lang tier was distinguished by the Marquis of Lorenzo Pareto in 1865 north of Cheva in northern Italy [3] . The tier appears on the high hills of Langhe ( en: Langhe ), which in Bormida crosses the upper part of the Belbo river valley, in part of the hills along the Lemmo and Serivia rivers, in some sections of the Curone and Staffor river valleys, in a series of hills from Superga to Casale and Valence [4] .
The Lardian tier is preceded by the Bourdigale tier, followed by the Serraval tier.
