An intern ( French stagiaire ) is a bicycle racer who takes an internship in a road cycling team , participating in its composition at the end of the season.
Description
From August 1 to the end of the current calendar year, road cycling teams can register interns with them. Their number and age depends on the category of the hiring team:
- WorldTeam and Professional Continental Team - 3 people, unlimited age [1]
- Continental Team and Women's Team - 2 people, under 23 years old (U23) [1]
followed by their performance in the UCI Continental Circuits . At the time of the internship, he should not play for a team of the same category.
An intern, according to the rules of the International Cycling Union (UCI), during a performance in an internship team is also considered a rider and in his main team [2] . Thus, in the period from August 1 to December 31, he can act in two teams at once.
