Clement Hamburg ( born Clement Hambourg ; July 31, 1900 , London - February 3, 1973 , Toronto ) is a Canadian pianist of Russian origin. The son of Mikhail Hamburg , the youngest of the Hamburg brothers .
He studied with his father in London, and then in Toronto, where Mikhail Hamburg moved with his three sons in 1910. Debuted in 1925 , later combined his solo career with teaching at the Hamburg Conservatory , founded by his father and led by his brother Boris . However, the attraction to academic music among the youngest of the Hamburg brothers was not as strong as the rest, and was ultimately outweighed by interest in jazz: in 1946 , Clement Hamburg and his wife Ruth opened the Hamburgs House jazz club. .
