Creation History
The non-profit organization called the “Make a Film Foundation” was founded by actress and producer Tamika Lamison. The organization shoots short films for children with severe or fatal diseases. Well-known actors and directors often take part in the shooting as a charity event. In 2016, Make a Film Foundation began production of a short film designed by 16-year-old cancer patient Anthony Conti ( adrenocortical cancer , stage IV), who dreamed of making his own film about zombies. He was inspired to write the story The Walking Dead .
The script was written by Conti co-authored by Scott Kosar ( Texas Chainsaw Massacre , Amityville Horror ), and the script was also edited by Wash Westmoreland ( Still Alice ). [2]
The attention of journalists to the film was attracted by the participation of Hollywood celebrities such as Johnny Depp , who starred in a small role as a laboratory assistant, and David Lynch , who helped direct the film and also starred in a cameo role. [3] The main directors of the project were Katherine Hardwick , Sam Raimi and Ted Melfi . [4] JK Simmons , Laura Dern , Penelope Ann Miller , Chad Coleman , Keith Allan, and Richard Chamberlain starred in minor roles. [5] [6]
Filming took place from November 18 to November 20, 2016 in Los Angeles , California .
Anthony Conti died on January 29, 2017 at the hospital in Walpole, Massachusetts . The official premiere took place on April 22, 2017.
