Club career
Karl Dekker began his career at the small clubs Ottakring, Schwartz-Weiss and Weiss Elf. In the fall of 1937, he moved to the Vienna club " Forst ", for which he debuted at the age of 16. Dekker successfully played for First until 1952. He became the three-time champion of Austria, and on October 31, 1943, he scored one of the goals in the final of the German Cup against the German “ Hamburg ”, which helped the team win with a score of 3: 2. Altogether Decker played 609 matches (including friendly games) in which he scored 605 goals. In the seasons 1943/44 and 1949/50, he became the top scorer of the championship. After completing his career at Forst, the striker played two seasons at the Sturm club from Graz , and then went as a legionnaire to the French Sochaux and the Swiss Grenchen .
Back in 1951, Dekker began his coaching career, leading Furst as a playing coach. In the 1957/58 season, heading Grenchen, he played his last match as a football player, once having entered the field due to urgent need. From September to December 1968, Dekker temporarily coached the Vienna “ Rapid ” due to the illness of the then head coach of the “ green-white ” Rudolf Pulled . In this short period, Dekker managed to achieve one of Rapida’s most famous successes in the European Cup , having passed the Spanish club Real Madrid in the 1/8 finals .
Since 1969, Karl Dekker served as president of the Austrian Federation of Football Teachers.
He died on September 27, 2000 at the age of 84, was buried in the Central Cemetery of Vienna . In 2011, a street in Vienna's Döbling district was named after Karl Dekker.

From May 1960 to October 1961, the Austrian team played 10 matches, losing only once and defeating the national teams of Scotland , the USSR , Spain , Italy , England , Hungary . However, due to a lack of funds, the AFS decided not to put the national team at the 1962 World Cup , after which its results began to deteriorate sharply. In 1963, the national team held 7 matches, having achieved only one victory and having suffered 5 defeats. In February 1964, Decker resigned.
