Biography

He was born on November 21, 1918 in the village of Zagzy, Varnavinsky district [2] .

From 1936 to 1938 he studied at the Semenov College for the artistic processing of wood. At the same time, he met with Georgy Petrovich Matveev , then director of the Semenov Museum of Local Lore, after which he became interested in local history [2] .

In 1937, Alexei Gavrilovich Baldin, father of Mikhail Alekseevich Baldin, was repressed and shot for not wanting to join the collective farm [2] (rehabilitated in 1958 [3] ).

In the years 1939-1940. worked as a teacher in the Zvernikhinsky school of the Varnavinsky district [2] .

From 1942 to 1945, Mikhail Alekseevich Baldin was at the front. After demobilization, he graduated from a teacher training college, and then from the history department of the Gorky State Pedagogical Institute [4] .

The first publication of Mikhail Alekseevich was an essay in the regional newspaper about the Vetluzh local historian Dementiev [4] .

In 1981, the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture M. A. Baldin was awarded a Diploma for his active participation in the protection and promotion of historical and cultural monuments [2] .

In 1990, the Presidium of the Nizhny Novgorod Local Lore Society, M. A. Baldin was awarded the title "Full Member of the Nizhny Novgorod Local Lore Society" [2] .

In 1993, the first and only book published during his life by M.A. Baldin about Barnavin and the whole Privetluzhdenie “Old Barnabas. Essays on the history of the Reclamation ” [3] .

He died on July 20, 1994 . He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Vetluzhsky, Krasnobakovsky District [2] .
