Gordon McLennan ( May 12, 1924 , Glasgow - May 21, 2011 [1] ) - British politician, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPV) in 1975 - 1989 .
Joined the CPV in 1943 . In 1949 - 1957 he worked in party positions in the party organization Glasgow, in 1957 - 1965 . - Head of the Scottish District Organization of the CPV, in 1965, being a member of the Executive Committee and Political Committee of the Executive Committee of the CPV. In 1965 - 1975 worked in various positions in the central office of the CPV (secretary of the Executive Committee of the CPV on organizational issues, head of the organizational department of the Executive Committee, chairman of the subcommittee of the Executive Committee on youth work).
After resigning for health reasons, John Gollan was elected Secretary General of the CPV on March 9, 1975 [2] . The last years of his tenure in this post were accompanied by a deepening crisis in the party.
In 1989, he resigned. After liquidation in 1991, the CPV joined the Scottish Communist Party, formed by its former members from Scotland. In 2005, the election supported the candidate of the left coalition Respect George Galloway .
